Thirsty Thursday: Campari Shandy

My favorite season is ending, but I am hanging on to every last day of it. It’s not officially fall until Tuesday, September 23rd. Let’s pretend it’s not getting cooler till then, shall we? Campari is one of my favorite liqueurs. Originating from Italy and an essential ingredient in the classic Negroni, I often serve Campari as an aperitif (or aperitivo in Italian). Aperitif is a French word derived from the Latin verb aperire, which means “to open.” It is  an alcoholic drink served before a meal (sometimes accompanied with an appetizer) that is usually somewhat bitter, sweet, or light. It is meant to whet the palate and get you ready for a delicious meal to come.

This beer cocktail is a great way to turn cheaper and not your best beer into something tasty. The color is just phenomenal too. I will definitely be drinking this before dinner until the last day of summer.
